Brian Barry is one of Australia's most respected and experienced wine makers and wine judges. He has presided over an astonishing 60 vintages, and in 1973
achieved the impossible by winning Australia's most prestigious wine award, the Jimmy Watson Trophy, solely using Riverland grapes. No one
has ever repeated this feat.
In 1977 Brian established his own vineyards in premium land in the Clare Valley, naming them 'Jud's Hill' after his son Judson, now the head winemaker.
Such was the quality of this site, and the winemaking talent, that the vineyard has accumulated 135 awards and trophies since. Production is purposefully
low, and all grapes are hand picked to ensure the utmost quality. Brian is still heavily involved, alongside Judson, in all aspects of the winemaking
well into his '70s and his passion remains evident in the wines.
